To type a ® registered trademark symbol on a Windows computer:

1. Press and hold the Alt key.
2. Type 0174 on the numeric keypad.
3. Release the Alt key.

   No, it’s hopefully a useful tip to some people. I would guess less than 5% of computer users know this trick. It’s easy to insert a symbol when using Microsoft Word, but not so easy in other programs.
